Well hope everybody has been keeping the driveway clearer out from the snow. We have had it bad here for as long period of time as we have in many years. We got through the sale and Denver since I have talked to you last. The sale went well but the weather was bad. The crowd was down a little due to the weather, but we still had over 600 people here. The sale went off without any major mishaps. The last few head didn’t make it on the TV show due to time, but I don’t think you can time that just right anyway. The sale was a big hit and we are already planning for next year.
Went to Denver after the sale and the weather was awesome. I own part of a Simmental bull that won the show and completed the third leg of the triple crown and became the first ever bull in the history of that breed to ever do it. We also had a heifer do well, but I was ready to come home.
We have a demo coming up in Goreville, IL on the 13th, 2 demos on the 19th at the OH Beef Expo, and one in Troy, MO on the 27th. So if you live in any of those areas, I hope to see you there!

It’s Christmas already. I don’t know about anybody else but it has been busy around here. Had a great Louisville show and since then we have been getting ready for this sale. Took pictures and videos of all the sale cattle then shot a TV show for the American Rancher on RFDTV. Be sure to tune in on Jan 4 for the show and again Jan 9 for the sale as it will be live on TV. Details are on my website guyercattle.com
Got a lot going right now with Guyer Cattle Co outside of the sale. We are looking at hiring a new farm manager right now, so hopfully that will work out. I get pulled in so many different directions anymore that I can’t keep up at home. Doing more and more with the educational part with Purina and I really do enjoy that.
The girls sold a couple of their gilts the other day that were out of one of their past show gilts, so I guess they are on their way to going business for themselves. HAHA! They are excited because we were going to build a new pig bar down here where we live last year but it just didn’t work out… but we are going to get it done now. Ashtin showed a heifer for her first time ever in Louisville this year and won her class. She done a really good job. I was a proud papa. Nalaney lost her first tooth on her birthday the other day. She didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
Hope to see you all at the sale, and don’t forget that Kirk will be in to put on a demo the morning of the sale that is free of charge, sponsored by Honor Show Chow.
Well hope everybody has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hope all has been good with everybody. It’s been a while since I have checked in. Well, we got through the all the state fairs and it has been a good one. I think we’re up to 7 state fair champions. The girls are working hard on their L-ville pigs and I think they are looking good. They decided the other day that they wanted to go to GA in late Jan and show down there, so in comes another 3 pigs this week for that. We have got most of the sale cattle sorted, and now it is time to go to work on that. We start pictures asap and all the ads, catalog, video, etc that come with that sale thing. Mark your calendars and come for the weekend on Jan 9th. It’s a fun time!
Went out club calf shopping this past month, and man everybody is serious about showing a good calf! There were a lot of good ones out there and I think I saw all of them for as long as I was gone from home. I had to introduce myself to the girls when I got home. Just kidding! Someone out there might take me seriously, and anybody that knows me knows that I don’t have a serious bone in my body.
Getting ready for American Royal this next week, then calves are coming in and then L-ville. I think the ones we have going to KC are the best we have taken for awhile, but we need some luck to come our way. Oh well, we will do the best we can and that’s all we can do.
Anybody who’s bored out there and needs something to do, let me know. Things are picking up here till sale time and its going to be a crazy ride till then. Well everybody take care till I write again. Also I would like for everybody to keep a good friend and good all round man in your prays as he fights his way through cancer…….Larry Campbell.

Well it is state fair season and I had to knock the rust off the clippers and get to work. Got OH, IN, IL, WI done and the rest to go. This week I will be in MO and IA. I have logged a few miles this past couple weeks. Going to start looking at new baby calves for next year already. The girls went and picked up their new Louisville pigs this past week, so they are in the pig barn again. Ashtin can show in 4-H next year and she can’t wait. I think mom is ready to show also.
Congratulations to Chad and Morgan on that new baby girl. Hope all is going well there. And also congratulations to all the winners so far at the state fairs. It has been a good season. Well I will check in next week!

Hope all has been well with everybody. I have not done a good job doing this blog again. Please give me the 3 strike rule, so that means I have one more strike left. Been to the WPX, CPS and NJSS all in a row with the family and the pigs. We had a good time at all and the girls also got along good showing.
Ashtin ended up in the top five in the sweepstakes at all of the national shows. We have been saving our pennies so we can build a small pig barn at the house. Since we have moved down closer to the office we have to drive 15 miles one way to feed and take care of the pigs, but the girls have not complained. BUT it is a hassle.
The girls got a female Corgei and they think that with the male they already have, they are going to be rich raising puppies. We’ll see……send your orders in now.
I feel like I have ran through the summer cause I just can’t find a way to keep up. But it has been cooler than normal. We had the VIP at the research farm a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. The turnout was good and the people were great. I truly enjoy those presentations, because the people there are in “learning mode.”
Went to Mike Witte’s county fair the other day and his son Evan won with his steer. They were thrilled, so if you know them be sure to congratulate them cause they worked hard as a family to get it done this year. Hard work pays off.
We are getting ready for all the state fairs right now. I made my rounds and seen most of the cattle we sold that are going to the state fairs, and I think they look awesome. Everybody has worked hard and got them fat and hairy so all we can do now is cross our fingers and hope for the best in the show.
Headed to Springfield, MO on the 27th to do a demo at the Ozark Empire. Last time I was there the turn out was great. I think people were coming out the cracks to get in. I expect Bud will do a good job again putting this one together.
Well until next time, hope everybody has a great midwestern fair season and God Bless you all!

Boy I have really dropped the ball on doing my blog the past few weeks! We have been breeding heifers and cows day and night. The girls and I are headed to the World Pork Expo. The girls are excited, and I am just glad to get away from here and work. Sounds kind of boring, but breeding cattle is just about all I have been up to. The girls’ pigs look pretty good going to WPX - I just hope they don’t get the gate. No, they’re not that bad, but that show is a great place for the kids to meet new friends and that makes the trip worthwhile.
Went out into Iowa and South Dakota and delivered some semen on my bulls here the middle of May and that was a big success. Steve Quimby road along for the trip and I had a good time razing him. There was times that I was going to throw him out of the car but didn’t…just kidding, we had a great time! He learned that they don’t eat their steaks well done or have sweet tea in the west. Every time he would order well done with sweet tea they would look at him and say “Honey, you’re in the west.” So then he ordered chicken…go figure…you know how that went over in cowboy country.
Had tickets to the Indy 500 that I won at a golf outing last year on a lucking putt but didn’t go. Instead I went with the men’s group from church and shot trap. Boy was I bad! Not real bad though, I got lucky a few times and didn’t let the clay fly away.
Well I promise and pinky swear that I will try to do better on keeping up with this blog! Now something to leave you with to make you think… “Legacies are built to live beyond our lives, while resumes are built for the present without thought of the future.” Be sure to leave a legacy that impacts lives!

We have been getting rain here. The weather has spoiled us here this past couple months and now it muddy. We have just got about 30 or so yet to calve. We are getting ready to start breeding heifers pretty soon. I think folks are thinking about breeding season cause they are calling and asking a lot of questions.
The girls have a barn full of pigs and they can’t wait to go to the show. Went to Fayetteville, AK this past weekend (home of the Razorbacks) and judged a show. They had a good turnout and the weather was great. Then we drove over into Oklahoma and looked at some cattle for two days. Stopped and saw QDog (he looked awesome) at Genex Bull Stud on the way home. My dad rode along and enjoyed the trip, but by the time we got back, I think he was ready to get home.
Won two steer shows this past week with cattle we sold. Chad’s last day after 6 years here was this past Friday. I’ve been around him going on 15 yrs, from the time he was showing through the time he managed this place. He will never read this so I will tell you…It was hard to see him go! He did a great job here and we hope he is blessed in his new family. Well, someone write me sometime to let me know you guys read this stuff!
I give you a thought last week so here is the one to think about this week…”Managers do things right but leaders do the right thing.” Be a good leader in life!

This past week we went to the OH Beef Expo. We had 2 demos over there for Honor Show Chow and it was AWESOME! I can’t believe how great those Ohio people are and how much they love to show cattle. We probably had close to 800 people between the two demos. The state of Ohio is doing a great job with their youth programs. I challenge the neighboring states to take some lessons. They have built a program that is drawing in youth and giving them a chance at educational programs, scholarships, moneys, etc.
We have started getting calf report calls on what looks good and what doesn’t. Those baby calves are big enough now that people are starting make their opinions. This is Chad’s last week here and we are going to miss him. I think he’s looking forward to this family thing. My girls have got a barn full of pigs now and are getting ready for the summer show season. I am looking forward to it as well. Everybody take care and we will talk next week.
My thought for this week is: “Risk is an action based on knowledge while a chance is uncalculated.” This means to follow your dreams and take some risks, but watch out on taking many chances.

Well time is flying by as I am behind on my blog. We went to KY Beef Expo this past weekend and got along well. We had 20+ head there but had a real good crew of guys and did a great job.
As most you know, Chad is going to be leaving pretty soon. He always said that when he got married and planned a family he would probably move back closer to home. Well, that time has come. It will be hard because Chad and I have been together since he has been a young man in 4-H, but I wish him and Morgan the world as they start their new family. Chad will probably stay on with Guyer Cattle Co. some smaller way, as he is a huge asset to us. Thanks Chad for all that you have done and will do for me and my family.
We have been calving real heavy right now as we’re in the heart of that time. I went and helped with a clinic John Reed put on in Ohio this past week and it was a HUGE success. They had over 400 attendees! We will be going to OH Beef Expo this week and will do a demo on Friday afternoon and another on Friday evening. We had great turnout last year, so don’t miss it this year! We will do some fun things and give away some great prizes.

This past week completely flew by. We started off with the IL Beef Expo where we had a really good clinic. There were about 100 attendees, and the HSC guys did a great job putting it on. We also had a good day at the show. Zach Day had Res. Grand Steer and he was real excited.
We have been calving day and night because we’ve had 4 or 5 born each day. This time of the year is fun to see those babies out there running around on a nice day.
I also recently did demos for Jim Murray and Mike Witte. The one for Mike was this past Thursday night in Columbus, IN and we had a good turn out. I always like doing stuff for Mike cause he he’s a good sport when I poke fun at him. I trimmed a few customers’ calves feet this week, as it is that time of the year to get that done here in the midwest.
We are getting ready for the KY Beef Expo this week, and we are taking about 15 hd to that show. Our customers like that show cause they don’t have to fight the weather. We’ll continue having these babies. Hope all is well with everybody out there and we will talk to everybody next week!
