Would just like to let you know how much we like the Fitters Edge Beef show feed. We bought a Polled Hereford bull in July 2009 and put him on this feed and he has done well. In the show ring he was Reserve Hereford bull at the Michigan State Fair, Champion Hereford Bull at Allegan County Fair, Supreme Overall Bull at the St. Joe County Fair. And the biggest win last week at NAILE in Louisville, he was selected at the Reserve Fall Bull Calf Champion. He weighted 1510 lbs at 14 months old. We are using a ton of this feed a week and are looking to show well again next year.

I have 30 days left to go until the end of the feeding period for my steer. Right now, we feel that he's finished and don't want him to gain any more, but we also don't want him to lose the valuable finish we've put on him. Is there a "formula" for calculating how many pounds a steer should consume per day for maintenance or to hold him? He's eating a custom mix using Grand 4TFyer with corn, oats and the High Octane high fat supplement, along with grass hay. In the past, I've always calculated for gain, but figuring how to keep him right where he's at is new for me. Thank you! It's really helpful to have this forum as a resource for help.

We have been feeding 18% grower at 3.5% of body weight for the last three months. We have weighed the lambs weekly and maintained that ratio throughout the feeding cycle. They have hit their projected weights within 4 pounds. We have adjusted our ratio to balance heat, exercise, and cover on the lambs for 2 weeks prior to the fair. Honor Show Chow and proper exercise has our lambs at their peak for fair week. Thanks for caring so much about an animals health and nutrition.

Earlier this week the Sheldon FFA took 9 students to the State Fair with broiler meat pens. All 9 placed in the placed in the top 10. Over 75 exhibitors from all over California were there and the competition was fierce, yet the Sheldon group dominated!

One of our freshman, Alyssa Phillips, was selected as the Grand Champion! The reserve went to a 4-H member from Fresno who entered some birds from Texas.

This is the third consecutive year that a Sheldon Student has received the Grand Champion honor! We didn’t get the Grand and Reserve spot like last year, but we are still very pleased.

Thank you both for all of your support. We ran two feed trials this year. One with Start and Grow, the other with Show Chow Broiler Complete. Both proved to be comparable believe it or not. Either way, we are proud to be feeding Purina.

Thanks again for assisting me and answering all my questions throughout the year!

I would just like you to know how pleased I am with your feed. I'm a 4-H advisor over the livestock and I told the kids I recommended them to feed Purina Mills and all did but one and I'm very pleased at the way their projects turned out. My own kids have been feeding the Steer feed and Hog feed but the Broilers have turned out wonderful also.

Last year my son took Broilers to the fair and we only had 4lb. birds because we fed another feed. This year the kids have 8-9lb. birds. Thank you very much and keep up the good work on the Honor Show Chow. I would tell anyone this story. Way to go Purina Mills. Hopefully we'll have some winners this year.

I am Jordan’s mom and the county fair beef superintendent. I know we have found ourselves in a time where it is necessary to re-evaluate our programs. I just wanted to thank you all for an awesome youth program. My daughter is just six, but she is saving her circles for gift certificates so she can buy a set of display panels. I have other kids that have followed her lead and started saving for things they want as well.

I teach these kids about showing cattle and spend many hours per week with them. Many of the kids I work with actually use a heifer that I give them, or they would not be able to go to the fair. Having a gift certificate to buy their grooming supplies means the world!

Thanks so much,

Hello, our daughter Joanna Delavan shows hogs. We have been showing pigs for 3 years. The previous 2 years we fed a different brand of feed. I decided after last year that we were going to switch feeds. I wasn't happy with the results we were getting or the freshness of the feed. It seemed that some of the feed smelled stale or of mold. I talked to a friend of mine during the summer and told him I wanted to switch feeds. He used to work at the Producer's CO-OP in New Braunfels. He told me about Honor Show Chow and after checking on-line I decided to try it.

WOW, was I glad I switched. I was very pleased with the consistent texture and freshness of each and every bag. Our hogs grew better than before and seemed to enjoy the feed. The hogs never looked better. This was the best year we had at our County show (Blanco). We raise our hogs on a small hog farm in Blanco. There are 2 other people that raise there pigs there and I got them to also switch to Honor Show Chow this year. They both were very happy with the results. I will continue to feed Honor Show Chow the rest of my daughter's show career (4 years).I look forward to a even better year next year. We are planning to show in 3 Major shows next year. I know in this day and time people don't always take the time out to tell people positive things about their products. I just wanted to say THANK YOU.

Sincerely,

         Richard Delavan III

I have had a very successful year showing my meat goats. You rewarded me with a silver belt buckle for my win at the Grand National @ Cow Palace back in April. Since then I have had several other Champions, but am not eligible for more than a hat or jacket on the program, but I care more about sharing my good fortune with you and maybe be included in your advertising.

During California State Fair in August my Mom and I introduced ourselves to Gretchen Richards the new Pacific Coat Retail Specialist. She is very nice and helpful. I have sent these photos electronically to her so she can use them in regional advertising.

Thank you for making such wonderful products!

Sincerely,

         Daphne Norman

My name is Austin Washburn, I am 12 years old. This is my third year showing pigs at the Lorain County Fair in Wellington, Ohio. My brother Troy, 11 years old, also shows pigs. We have a lot of fun even though raising show pigs can be hard work.

At this years fair, I won showmanship, I got reserve champion gilt, then I got Reserve Grand Champion. Troy finished fourth overall.

We would not be able to win without Purina Show Feeds and the help of our Purina Mills dealer, Sunrise Cooperative.

Thank you for providing a dependable product and offering Top Performer Awards!

Thank you,

         Austin Washburn

Thanks again for all of your help. We appreciate your willingness to answer questions and help us understand the feeding process. We are constantly asked how we've learned so much about feeding and I tell people you should talk with your feed man and feed nutritionist. They are shocked and tell us they didn't know their feed company had a nutritionist. We wouldn't leave Honor because not only do we find success with the feed...but we also feel like you are on our team....helping us understand the differences in the pigs and the way we feed each of them.

Again, thanks for all you do for the industry and especially the kids!!

I wanted to let you know that my daughters market pig weighed in at 270 on August the 7th. We fed her the 2-lbs of Powerfill plus 4 pounds of her regular show grower per day since the 14th of July. It really seemed to help open her up and give her the cover she needed. She was the Reserve Supreme Market Hog at our County Fair.

I really think that the Honor® N-Timidator Goat Ration is an excellent feed. I feel the N-Timidator feed gives our goats a fresher look over other feeds that I have tried. My Ag teacher has all of his students that show goats feed it. I even advertise this feed when selling my kid goats to others that are going to show. I would also like to thank you for my Honor Roll™ Awards Program belt buckle. I have wanted a buckle for a long time, but could never seem to win a show that gave one. Thank you.

My Buffalo County Fair Division 3 Reserve Champion Market Steer, Lyle, weighed in at 1230 pounds with a 2.62 rate of gain. The steer that won the class went on to be reserve champion overall, so I got to step in for consideration for reserve overall. That was exciting. This is my 6th year in 4H. Last year I had Reserve Champion Hereford Breeding Heifer at the Nebraska State Fair. I like Purina Grand 4-T-Fyer. I think it makes my calves’ hair coats shiny. We haven’t had as much trouble with dandruff since we started feeding Purina.

We have tried several other beef supplements and without a doubt, Grand 4-T-Fyer is the best. We have always been competitive with our purebred Angus, but since switching to 4-T-Fyer two years ago, we have won two Grands, three Reserve Grands, and several division and class winners at state and national shows. Keep up the good work!

We have used Purina’s feeds for many years in our beef and swine production. We have always had comfort knowing that they’re balanced feeds. We have never had an animal not take to the Purina feeds. Before we started with the Purina feeds, we had tried some other brands, but not all of our animals would eat the feed (particularly our beef calves). In closing we would like to thank you for producing such top quality products!

I won Grand Champion with my pig at the 2006 Natchitoches Parish Fair. My pig was fed Purina Mills Show Chow the whole time we were preparing her for this event. Being my first year to show, my parents searched on the internet for different types of feed that they thought would be good for my pigs. After researching the Purina Mills Show Chow website, they felt this feed would be best for my pigs. Everyone in our parish was using a different type of feed. We were the only ones using Show Chow and it paid off. Thanks Show Chow!

We have fed Show Chow to our broilers all the way through from start to finish. Each year our children have moved up to a different event. Each time we have gone back to Purina Show Chow. This year our little girl received Reserve Champion for rabbits. Yeah! Now we are showing goats for 2007. We’re using Intimidator Goat Ration. Thank you!

Thanks for the great product. My steer won FFA Grand Champion and Reserve Supreme. We also graded choice in our Carcass Class. Feeding Purina Feed and Honor Champion Drive Topdress was a winning combo!

Dear Honor Show Feeds,
Thank you very much for sponsoring my Reserve Champion Market Lamb jacket at the Union County Fair. This year I showed my market lamb and breeding ewe at the fair. My market lamb was Reserve Champion and I was Champion Intermediate Showman. I have fed your feed for many years and have always been successful. My lambs like your feed and they grow well. Again thank you for sponsoring the jacket. I really appreciate it.

Codi has been in 4H four years. In 2004 her calf (T-Roy) received Reserve Grand Champion, in 2005 her steer (Snickers) was in the Grand Champion drive, and then 2006 she finally received Grand Champion with “Jason!” All this time Purina Mills continues to be our only source of show feed. Thank you very much for making one of her dreams come true…being pictured among the Top Performers!

Dear Program Headquarters,
Hey, my name is Logan Rees and I’m 15 years old. I just wanted to let you know how pleased I was with your Show Chow Pig Feed. I used your feed on my fair pigs. This was my first year using your feed and I have seen a huge improvement in my pigs’ muscle tone and weight. I will be using your feed in the future, because I have seen so much improvement. Thank you for your time!

At several shows we have been to, other competitors were always inquisitive on what type of feed we use. I have always stated we use Purina feeds, both the complete and show formulas. I always had folks trying to convince me that I might want to switch. My comment to that was, “Why would I want to mess with success?” Lexy’s current meat pen record is 9 first place wins and no losses. We pray for continued success. As you can tell, I am very proud of Lexy, her rabbits, and their success. This project has been a good learning experience for both her and me.

Just a note of thanks – your feed is a proven winner. We have gotten Grand Champion steer two years in a row with your feed. We also feed chickens, rabbits and hogs.

What a great feed! We have used it for 4 years and nothing else even comes close… even the more expensive ones! We have a pig/lamb sale in the spring and recommend it to our customers. It really is the best – the feed you use really does make a difference!
